CHTU Update - Jan 17, 2019. Grad credit, MMO cards, negotiations

Dear Colleagues,

Our pilot for the Cleveland Clinic Express Care Online ended December 31.  You can still use the service, but it will not be covered by our insurance.  At our next insurance committee meeting we will look over the usage and see if it brought down costs for subs and doctor appointments.  We may decide to run a little survey as well.

Participation in the Heights Coalition community book group February 6 and 13 will be documented with 5 PDUs per evening.  30 PDUs = 3 CEUs = 1 graduate credit in terms of license renewal.  If you want to purchase 1 graduate credit for participation in both evenings then you should register online with Lake Erie College.  Link HERE for more info about credit.  Link HERE for more info about the event.

If you are enrolled in district medical benefits you should have received new medical/prescription cards.  The networks if you are outside of Ohio have expanded which is why there are new cards.  This may be good news for kids away at college who are still on our plan - have them check it out.  DO NOT throw out your Dental/Vision card - it is not going to change.

We filed a notice to negotiate a successor agreement on January 15, according to the protocols in our contract.  We expressed our willingness to start negotiating before the mid-March date listed in the contract.  Thank you for your input at our Union Lunches and through the bargaining poll.

In Union,
Ari Klein
CHTU President
