CHTU Update - Jan. 26, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

It seems that the holiday Covid surge has been trending downwards and we hope this continues.  It would be nice to have some sense of normalcy restored in our schools. In the meantime we continue on with this exceptionally challenging year and continue to help our students excel.

Euclid Teachers Association Potential Strike

Unless there is a settlement February 2nd is the start date of the Euclid Teachers Association strike.  There are a few ways we can stand in solidarity with our union brothers and sisters.  On February 1st we are asking all members to wear red and black.  You can use this sign and  take a photo of yourself or a group of colleagues to post to social media using the #wesupporteuclidteachers hashtag.  Please post your photo in our Union Facebook group and on your personal social media accounts.

Retirement

If you are eligible to retire with 30 or fewer years in STRS and have at least 10 years in CHUH then you probably qualify for the $24,000 incentive.  You must send a retirement letter to the Board by March 1.  Please contact our office or email krego@chtu.org to make an appointment to talk through the retirement process and prepare paperwork.

Job Share:

Job Share plans are due by March 1. If you have a teacher partner with whom you would like to job share,  you should be sure to submit your plans to Human Resources by March 1.  If you are interested and qualify to job share (see Article 4.G of our contract), and need to be paired up please let me know and I will try to connect you with a like-minded colleague.

“Data Day” or PD day

January 31st was added as a PD day at a recent board meeting.  This day will be a virtual work from home day.  Mrs. Gould sent an agenda for Monday to district email.  Please read this email for details.  You can also find the agenda here.

Banquet

Saturday, May 14 from 6-10 p.m. is the date of our CHTU banquet.  We were not  able to have a social or banquet for the past two years. We are very excited to bring back this event, and we want to throw a party and celebrate our work and our endurance over these past two years.  The banquet will be held at the Embassy Suites in Beachwood.  We have reserved a block of rooms and you can call 216.765.8066 or use this link to book a room if you prefer to spend the night. The evening will be filled with the basket raffle, awards, drinks, dinner, and fabulous music.  Put this date on your calendar and be prepared to spend the evening with us!!

In Union,

Karen Rego

CHTU President
