Current Executive Board Update

Dear Colleagues,

This Thursday we will have our November Executive Board meeting at 4:30 through Zoom.  All members are welcome and encouraged to attend.  On our agenda we will discuss SCOC concerns, the selling our vintage shirts, new logo apparel, CHTU gives back campaign among many other items.  Next week we have our compensatory on Wednesday and Thanksgiving break Thursday and Friday.  I hope you spend this time with your family and friends doing what gives you the rest and relaxation you so greatly deserve.  We encourage all of you to pause your school email inbox and take a true break.

COVID:  If you are working in a building and you see any unsafe conditions,  email President Rego.  The forms will be delivered to the administration and the Board. OFT districts across the state are struggling with hybrid/remote and in-person teaching. 

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee):  Our November 18 meeting was canceled.  Nothing new to discuss.

DISCIPLINE (SCOC):  You should be doing all referrals in infinite campus to keep track of disruptions in your google meets. 

INSURANCE:  A meeting has been scheduled for January 20.

Dear Colleagues,

The May Executive Board report is below.  We will hold an Executive Board meeting on Thursday, May 21 at 3:30 using Google Meet.  Before the meeting begins we will be honoring individual members through our Tom Schmida and Ellen Krebs awards.  We will also take this opportunity to swear in newly elected officers for the 2020-22 term starting July 1.
 
All members are welcome to the meeting to observe.  If you use your phone you will be asked to identify yourself.

CHTU and the Board of Education have an agreement around the closure of schools through April 9, 2020. (LOU)

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee): Several meetings have been cancelled for lack of new information from the state concerning OTES 2.0.  Next scheduled meeting was March 3, but got delayed. No meeting date planned.


CCES (Cuyahoga County Educators Summit) –nothing much going on.


DISCIPLINE (SCOC):  Next meeting April 1, 2020. CANCELLED


ER&D:  Summer registration is starting:  June 1-5 English Language Learners.  June 1-5 Common Core Thinking Math 3.

CCES (Cuyahoga County Educators Summit) –First meeting was January 23, 2020.


DISCIPLINE (SCOC):  Met February 5, 2019.  According to the district since referrals are down then the behaviors in schools must be better. We let them know their logic is faulty – members are not writing as many referrals because no one has time to go through all the hoops that are now required – so behaviors are probably worse.

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee): The first ARC meeting was held September 24. The new OTES 2.0 was discussed that will be implemented statewide next year.  We are gathering as much information on the changes as it becomes available.  The November 12 was cancelled since nothing new has come out about the pilots running this year throughout the state.  Next meeting January 14, 2020.


CALENDAR COMMITTEE: Recommendations were sent to the board for the 2020-2022 calendars.  No major shifts except that both years include Easter Monday as a day off.
