CHTU Update - 1/11/2023

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome back from your winter break.  Monday, January 16, 2023 is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which means that all CHUH schools are closed.  Please look for an email later this week from our ER&D coordinator, Monica Rogers regarding  the courses that will be available this spring and summer.

Medical Mutual
Over break you should have received new insurance cards. If you did not receive your new cards please contact Medical Mutual and request the new cards.

You will notice a small decrease in your pay effective with the January 13th pay date. This is due to an 8% increase in healthcare costs for the District for calendar year 2023. As we all pay a percentage of these costs, we'll see a corresponding increase in the deduction as follows:

January 15
January 15th is the deadline for submitting transcripts or verification of course work for salary credit to apply for the second semester of this school year.

Progressive Lenses
Recently we added progressive lenses under the vision care provision of our contract.  Previously only bifocals and trifocals were covered.  The amount covered for progressive lenses is $205.  This addendum to the contract was approved by the CHTU Executive Board prior to Winter Break.

PD/Records Day
Tuesday, January 17 is a professional development day for elementary, and a PD/Records day for secondary.  The elementary half-day records  is March 23 which is concurrent with elementary conferences.  You can find important dates like these in our Local 795 survival guide.  If you have misplaced your hard copy, here is the link to our digital version.

In Solidarity,

Karen Rego
CHTU President
