CHTU Update - Jan. 10, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

We have several important updates for you.  Hopefully, this will provide some clarity.

Medical Mutual

You may have noticed on your Medical Mutual Dashboard that there is now a feature on your dashboard that says “Deductible & Out of Pocket (In Network).” There is an amount that says the maximum out-of-pocket is $6,850.00/ $13,700.00.  Although the feature is new, this amount has been in our contract for many years. Our plan has not changed since last year.  We have asked Medical Mutual to remove this from our dashboard since it just causes confusion.  The numbers that members should focus on are the “deductible” and the “coinsurance” amounts.

Deductible:

Your deductible is $100 for single/$200 for family.  Your deductible is the amount you will pay per year for medical bills before your healthcare plan starts sharing the cost.  Once your deductible is met, your costs are determined by your plan’s coinsurance.

Coinsurance:

Your coinsurance is 90/10 with an out-of-pocket limit of $400 for single/$800 for family.  This means that you will pay 10% of your medical expenses after you reach your deductible until you reach your plan’s out-of-pocket limit.

We know that the new health plan can be confusing.  You can find a detailed breakdown of our benefits in the CHTU Survival Guide or visit the Health Corner index on the CHTU website.

FSA

We became aware that FSA funds were not updated. This should have happened on January 1, 2022.  However, the date was incorrectly entered by the district and now they need to manually update each individual person.  We encourage you to check your account and if the funds are not correct to contact Denise Toney.   If you already paid another way you can submit a claim for reimbursement.

Friday, January 14

Today we received communication that PD on Friday, January 14 will be virtual/remote for teaching and support staff. This means that you are not required to work in person.  Monitors will have an in-person meeting.  Building leadership will send out links if there is not one already on the agenda.  The afternoon is PD for elementary and a records day for secondary.

In Union,

Karen Rego

CHTU President
