UNION UPDATE
New Contract. Last night in a special session, the CH-UH Board of Education voted its approval of the new contract for our teachers’ bargaining unit. Negotiations have not produced an agreement for our monitors’ bargaining unit. The monitors’ contract settlement will in all likelihood be settled by binding arbitration.
Three Kudos. Congratulations are due to the following Local 795 members.
- Donna Feldman, High School English Teacher and 795 Steward, is one of eight teachers nationally to be awarded a “Teacher as Researcher” grant from the International Reading Association. This grant will support Donna’s dissertation research.
- Jennifer Bennett, CHTU Second Vice-President from Roxboro Elementary has been appointed Chair of the Ohio Federation of Teachers Education Issues Committee.
- Beth Rae, Local 795 Secretary and Elementary Instructional Coach for Literacy has been appointed as a representative from the Ohio Federation of Teachers to serve on the planning committee for a statewide teacher conference next August sponsored by Batelle for Kids that will focus on teaching successes, and innovations.
