As you are aware, union dues cannot be used to donate to candidates or political causes. Instead, members of our union are eligible to voluntarily contribute to our Committee On Political Education (COPE). Our Union uses these funds to support candidates and issues that are important to us. Recently we contributed to campaigns ranging from the We Are Ohio campaign to repeal Senate Bill 5 to the local school levy, and in prior years we have even helped candidates in their bid for office. All contributions are voted on by our executive board, whom you elect to represent you. Only our members can donate to this fund, and donations are withheld automatically from your paycheck. You can track your current contribution from your pay stub under "political" in the deduction area.
