Dear Colleagues,
We had a “standing room only” showing of members at the Board of Education meeting on April 4th. Our message on student and staff safety was forceful, clear, and concise. Board President Wright and Superintendent Kirby immediately followed up and scheduled a meeting with us on these issues for April 20th. We will report out after we meet with solutions and next steps.
OFT Survey
OFT has created a short survey digging into some questions about school climate as it relates to teacher and staff retention in K-12 settings (including ESCs, Career Tech, and charter schools). OFT will use the information to propose solutions to safety and morale problems that are plaguing our schools in OHIO. I encourage you to take a few moments to complete this survey.

Ohio School Social Worker of the Year
We are proud to announce that one of our own 795 members was selected as Ohio School Social Worker of the Year. Allison Craig was honored by the Ohio School Social Worker Association in a ceremony on February 24th. Allison has been a CHTU member for 22 years and is assigned at the High School. She along with our other social workers take on huge responsibilities, much of their work being unknown to the rest of us , to provide multiple forms of assistance to our students and their families. Thank you Allison for your dedication to the students you serve and to Local 795.
In Union,
Karen Rego
CHTU President
