Dear Colleagues,
The new school year is here and that means that our new three year contract is in effect. It is very important that you read your pay stub to make sure all of your deductions and your salary are correct. Any errors you find will need to be corrected ASAP by emailing Arlene Mohammadpour. You can also login to the employee access center, located under the staff tab, and find your pay information there. Tomorrow you will receive your first direct deposit notice via email. Below are some tips for reading your pay stub.
Salary:
There is a 2% raise effective with our first pay. We are on 26 pays this year. You should take your salary amount and multiply that by 26. This is your gross salary. You can compare that to this chart from our CHTU website. There are multiple salary schedules so make sure you are on the correct one. Your education lane will not be correct if you turned in coursework this summer. You have until September 15 to have official coursework transcripts submitted to HR. These salary increments require Board approval before the correct education lane is adjusted on your pay.
Directly under salary you may see other amounts you earned. These are items that are not part of your salary. Such items might be:
- Class sub coverages or any other time you cover for the duties of an absent teacher
- Voluntary and Compensated before and after school activities
- Loss of planning time/lunch
Sick/Personal:
Our sick and personal leave is listed on our pay stubs in hours. You can find out how many days you have by taking that number and dividing it by 7.5. If you are a new teacher and you transferred here from another Ohio public school district, the accumulated sick leave from your previous district can be transferred to CH-UH by contacting your former employer and requesting the transfer. All of us have 3 personal days accumulated even if they do not yet show up on your pay stub. You can carry up to 5 personal days if you have some that rolled over from last year.
Deductions:
- Deductions you should have on your pay stub are:
- Medicare
- Federal Tax
- Ohio Tax
- Cleveland Heights if you work in Cleveland Heights
- University Heights if you work at the Board of Education and Gearity.
- You will have both cities taxes taken out if you work at Gearity and another CHUH building
- STRS Pickup (this is your retirement)
- 795 Dues
- Political (Voluntary COPE donation) - If this is on your pay stub you signed a document allowing the district to deduct this donation.
- Possible other voluntary deductions: 403B/457/IRA/
- Medical- You can check to make sure you have the correct amount deducted by referring to this chart:

- Between $35,623 and and less than $62,340 then annual premium is $1,086 single/$2,939 family ($45.25 single/$122.46 family per pay)
- $62,340 and higher then annual premium is $1,194 single/$3,233 family ($49.75 single/$134.71 family per pay)
