Dear Colleagues,
In case you missed it, we are now in open enrollment for Flexible Spending Accounts. The district sent out the forms and I have posted them in our health corner: http://chtu.oh.aft.org/health-corner/flexible-spending.
Here is a link to the Teacher Voice column in the December 2019 Heights Observer. I wrote about how academics should not be our sole focus. (link)
Thanks to everyone who has been calling or writing to state reps and senators about the impact of voucher funding on our students. It is an existential threat to CHUH. Reps Boyd, Howse, Sweeney, Skindell, Upchurch, Brent, Smith, and Robinson wrote a letter to the leadership of the House and Senate today proposing our 10% loss solution as a temporary fix. Hopefully the leadership will be amenable to this proposal. CHUH could be reimbursed $5.6 million this year if this legislation becomes law. It is probably a long shot, but I think that people are paying attention now that were not paying attention before. Please keep up the pressure, especially if you don't live right around the school district. Tell your rep that you work in a district where voucher funding is creating a crisis.
Pleasant thoughts to all as we enter the final countdown before winter break
In Union,
Ari Klein
CHTU President
