CHTU Update - February 2, 2017 - 4 Reminders

Dear Colleagues,
A few reminders:

1) PERSONAL LEAVE BEFORE/AFTER A VACATION DAY:  If you need a personal day on February 17 or 21 then you should put in a request to Dr. Lombardo as soon as possible.  (see our FAQ if you need help:  http://chtu.oh.aft.org/frequently-asked-questions/sick-and-personal-leave-faq)

2)  MEMBERSHIP MEETING/CONTRACT VOTE:  Please plan on attending our membership meeting on February 7 @ 4 pm at Forest Hills Church (3031 Monticello Blvd - at Lee Blvd and Monticello).  Please consider carpooling to the meeting if convenient.  There is also parking available across Lee in Forest Hills park.  "NO" buttons are now available at each building (except two will get them Friday).  See your building steward if you want to support our effort to publicize the rejection of the Board Offer.

3)  TOSS DEVOS:  Keep up the good work flooding Senator Portman's offices with phone calls, emails, and letters.  At our membership meeting on Tuesday we will be collecting handwritten or typed letters to Senator Portman urging him to vote against Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education.  You do not need an envelope. A parent in the district has offered to hand deliver these letters to his office.

4)  PD/RECORDS/CONFERENCES:  February 10 is an all day PD for everyone.  March 3 is PD for Secondary all day.  March 3 is half day PD for elementary and half day Records.  We are still investigating the mysterious switch in middle school conference night to Ash Wednesday instead of what is clearly printed on the District Calendar and our Survival Guide for February 28.  Stay tuned!

Remember, not all things that matter are measurable, even though there seems to be no end to data gathering.  Keep up the good work.
In Union,
Ari Klein
CHTU President
