CHTU Update - July 2, 2013

Dear Colleagues,
Hopefully, you are enjoying a change of pace now that it is summer.

A few updates:

- Middle school teachers will have their normal day shifted to 7:45-3:15.  In our new contract this is allowable since we were notified by July 1.  We don't know if the student day has shifted as well.

- Members who have STRS years available to buy should certify those years by December 31, 2013 and pay them by June 30, 2014.  The rates may be two to four times higher afterwards.

- The first pay will be September 6.  Remember this pay will include a raise but look like less money since we are moving to 26 pays.

- The District is applying for waiver days from the state for next year.  If it gets approved our convocation will be Friday, August 23.  Safety and Security training will occur one day and OTES training the other for Monday and Tuesday, August 26 and 27.  Middle and High School will start classes on Wednesday, August 28.  Elementary will have a staggered start with half of each grade attending Wednesday and the other half on Thursday.  Friday will be a full day of classes for everyone.

- Our office will be closed July 3-9, but we will be checking emails and phone messages.

- FYI, I am pasting in the salary schedule for 191 day employees (most teachers).
