Tom Schmida Teacher Leader Award
Honoring the legacy of our Immediate Past President, Tom Schmida, this award seeks to recognize Cleveland Heights Teachers Union members that touch the lives of students every day as well as advocate for our profession. Mr. Schmida worked tirelessly, throughout his tenure as President, for the optimal working conditions for teachers with the understanding that it translates to a better learning environment for students. He often says, “What is good for teachers is good for students.”
Nominations are being sought for this award. Eligibility requirements are:
- Nominees must be a member, in good standing, of CHTU Local 795.
- Nominees must be active in CHTU Local 795 issues.
- Nominees must demonstrate a strong commitment to education.
- Nominees must be directly involved in the instruction of students.
To nominate a candidate, please write a letter that includes:
- The nominee’s name, school, and position.
- Your name, school and position.
- A short description detailing the nominee’s attributes associated with each of the eligibility requirements.
Nomination letters may be sent to our Union Office or emailed to Monica Carter at chtuofficemanager@gmail.com. Letters must be received by Friday, March 7, 2014. The recipient will be announced at the Cleveland Heights Teachers Union Banquet March 21, 2014 at the Embassy Suites in Beachwood.
