CHTU Update 9/30/2022

Dear Colleagues,

We have one more 4 day week before the final push until Thanksgiving. October is a busy month full of fun activities. It's important that you find time outside of your workday for you and your friends and family. The events that CHTU is involved in can help with some of that time. Please read the updates below for some fun upcoming activities and important updates.

In Solidarity,

Karen Rego
CHTU President

TUSH
CHTU will be hosting a TUSH (Teachers Union Social Hour) on Friday, October 7 at Boss Dog Brewing Company from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.  Please join us for a night of solidarity!  Snacks will be provided. All new members will receive one free drink! Please see this flier for details.

Tutors
The district allocated  some of their ESSER funds to hire tutors for all our schools.  Please welcome these new members . We met with some of these new tutors during their orientation.  While these tutors are here to help our students,  teachers should not feel obligated to plan work for them. We expect our tutors to  come to our schools  prepared with activities and work.  They are here to help our students and recover  some of the learning loss that occurred  during Covid.

Lee Road Halloween Festival
CHTU will have a table at the Lee Road Candy Crawl on Saturday, October 15 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.  This is a free event, and is open to trick-or-treaters of all ages.  Please bring your families and enjoy this wonderful event.  You can find more information here.

AFL-CIO Convention
On Tuesday, September 27, and Wednesday, September 28, President Rego and Vice President Underhile represented CHTU at the Ohio AFL-CIO Biennial Convention. Union delegates from locals all over the state approved these endorsements for the November Election.  President Rego and Vice President Underhile were also featured on the Ohio AFL-CIO Twitter feed!
