CHTU update - August 5, 2013 Important Dates

Dear Colleagues,
This year we have several changes from our regular schedules.  One reason is that we added an extra day to the calendar so we could have a records day (end of first trimester for elementary and end of first semester for secondary).  Please spread the word to people who don't look at school mail during the summer.

Here are important dates you need to know:
Any date before your first day is Voluntary and Compensated.  We hope you are interested in attending retreats and professional development, but there can be no repercussions if you can't attend or are not interested in attending.

August 19 - first day for 201 day employees. (we are hoping to have your extra day worked through comp time - otherwise your start would be Aug 16)

August 23 - Convocation.  First day for 191 day employees (which is most every teacher)

August 26 - Elementary Curriculum Night 4:30-6:30.  Mostly informal.  Ice Cream social-type atmosphere with grade-level presentations

August 27 - Middle School Curriculum Night 4:30-6:30

August 28-29 - Elementary staggered start

August 28 - Secondary first day of school

September 6 - First pay for everyone (including 201 day people - you have been paid you early in the past).

September 11 - High School Curriculum Night - probably 7-9

First two weeks of September - open enrollment for medical benefits.
Remember, if you have a conflict with your first day to report and will need to take a personal day that it will need to be approved (this is not needed for sick leave).  Contact our office for help with paperwork.

Hope this helps clarify the start of school.
In Union,
Ari Klein
CHTU President
