CHTU Update - September 5, 2014 What's not in yer wallet?

Dear Colleagues,
You may have noticed little increase in take home pay on your new stub compared to last year.  If you look at the "gross" income instead you will see a higher amount.  With a 1% raise and an additional 0.5% or so extra money for working an extra day you may be wondering why your net is not more.
The answer lies in the increase that STRS is taking out.  We are in the second year of the four 1% increases from our portion of pay that goes to STRS.
This year we pay out 11% to STRS (shows up as "STRSAnn" on the stub) .
The Board pays 14% to STRS (shows up as "*STRSbrd").
The Board agreed to pay 1% extra to STRS that we would normally be responsible for starting back in 2010 when we negotiated language around the instructional day at each level (shows up as "*STRSBdp" which means STRS Board pickup).

If you work in a different city this year (MOSTLY WILEY STAFF?), please make sure that the correct city tax is being taken out of your check.  It is difficult to change that later.

Please make sure that you are making the correct amount of money.  You can check the salary schedule in our contract online at chtu.org starting on page 130.

Remember to sign up to help register voters next week a night you are not working curriculum night.  Sign up at http://doodle.com/itx29wi3cp22xrd7
Have a great weekend,
Ari Klein
