CHTU Update - September 9, 2013

Dear Colleagues,

Staff Meetings – in our new contract staff meeting dates for the year should have been published the first week of school.  Staff meeting times start 10 minutes after student dismissal and shall end after 60 minutes.  10 minutes during the meeting should be used by your steward.

A few items on your paystub:

STRS shows up three times:
14% that the Board pays (notice that all * items are paid by the Board)
10% that we pay (that is up a percent from last year by statute)
1% that is picked up by the Board through an agreement in 2010

Credit Union and Deferred Compensation (like a 403b) – the deduction has stayed the same as it was last year right now.  If we had not switched from 22 to 26 pays there would be the same number of pays through December 2013 as we have this year.  In December you will be asked if you want to make a change starting January 2014.

Extra Day in the Calendar – unlike the Independent Professional Activity days we get paid in December and March, the extra day in the calendar is part of the salary schedule.  That is why it did not show up in your stub.  Our monitors got paid for the extra day in their 1-day pay on Friday because they are hourly.

City Tax – please alert payroll if the city tax deduction on your payroll does not match the city you work in.

In Union,
Ari Klein
CHTU President
