CHTU Updates

Dear Colleagues,

Calendar:
The calendar committee met this week to discuss the 2020-21 and 2021-22 calendars.The recommendation will be to start two weeks before Labor Day (August 24, 2020 and August 23, 2021).  We had a long discussion of how to have a Wednesday start for students, but could not figure out how to gain the work and instructional days needed without cutting some vacation days.  Most of us are 192 day employees where there are usually 7 or 8 holidays and 2 compensatory days - this all needs to be fit in.
The recommendation is to have Spring Break March 29-April 5 in 2021 so that it

Dear Colleagues,

Please wear red tomorrow and send me group pictures so that I can post them in support of the Chicago teachers who started their strike for better conditions in schools for children.
Also, after PD tomorrow, please stop by and socialize in our new office space at the Coventry Peace Campus 2843 Washington Boulevard (formerly known as Coventry Elementary School).  We will have some snacks and drinks available for all.

Teachers Union Social Hour/OPEN HOUSE:  Please join us at our new office after PD on Friday, October 18 and see our new space at the Coventry Peace Campus.  We have light snacks, beer and wine to celebrate this new space.  Parking at the end of Washington Boulevard or you can walk over from the city lot on Euclid Heights Boulevard.
