COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee): Nothing new.

 

DISCIPLINE: Met December 5.  OCR says our plan in compliance with what was requested.  Still unsure when we will have to implement the new Student Code of Conduct.  Next meeting February 6.

 

DLT (District Leadership Team): The November 28 meeting was cancelled. A meeting was held in December.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee): Nothing new. October 24 was set aside as a meeting date, but there is no reason to meet at this time.

 

DISCIPLINE: The Student Code of Conduct should be rolling out sometime during this school year.  The district is awaiting approval from the Office of Civil Rights. The first Student Discipline meeting was held October 3 to get back on track.  Next meeting December 5.

 

September 2018

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee): Met August 27th to review OTES handbook. Every teacher should be notified if they are on a 1-cycle or full OTES evaluation by mid-September and how student growth measures are going to be made.  Next meeting October 24.

 

COMMUNITY IN SCHOOLS TASK FORCE:  Former CHUH Board member Nancy Peppler was hired to coordinate our Community in Schools work.

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee):  Met April 23 and discussed student growth measures.  Observations must be completed by May 1.   Next year a notice will go to all teachers that states how/if they need student growth measures.  Lombardo and Klein will update the handbook over the summer.

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee):  Nothing new.  Next meeting April 23.

 

COMMUNITY IN SCHOOLS TASK FORCE:  Met March 14 and reviewed the report given by United Way.  We agreed that we would recommend a blended model for our district where some services would be offered districtwide and others in individual schools, based on needs.  Next meeting April 18.

 

CUYAHOGA COUNTY EDUCATORS SUMMIT:   Next meeting April 26.

COMMUNITY IN SCHOOLS TASK FORCE:  Will meet March 14.  When we reconvene we will be discussing which issues we want to tackle and what model we would like to use.

CUYAHOGA COUNTY EDUCATORS SUMMIT:   Met January 25.  We could not attend.

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee):  Met December 18 to update on SLO and intervention support.  Next meeting March 19. 

 

COMMUNITY IN SCHOOLS TASK FORCE:  Met January 10.  We received an update concerning the interviews, focus groups, and surveys that have been going on. Next meeting February 14.

 

CUYAHOGA COUNTY EDUCATORS SUMMIT:   Met January 25.  We could not attend.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

ARC (Appraisal Review Committee):  Met December 18 to update on SLO and intervention support.  Next meeting March 19. 

 

COMMUNITY IN SCHOOLS TASK FORCE:  Met January 10.  We received an update concerning the interviews, focus groups, and surveys that have been going on. Next meeting February 14.

 

CUYAHOGA COUNTY EDUCATORS SUMMIT:   Next meeting is January 25.

 

DISCIPLINE: Discipline data from around the district was analyzed at the December 7 meeting.  Next meeting February 27 and 28.

 

DLT (District Leadership Team): Met December 20.  Next meeting January 31.

 

ER&D: Managing Anti-Social Behavior will hold a course on Tuesdays from February 20 to May 1 from 4-7 PM.  A national trainer is coming to town to meet with the MAB trainers for a 2-day refresher course January 25-26.

GRADING TASK FORCE:  The first meeting was held was held December 6 to discuss grading practices throughout the district and Board Policy 5421.  The next meeting will be held January 17.

 

INSURANCE:  A meeting was held on January 16.  Updates were given on our usage.  Our premium had risen 3.4% overall for 2018.  We discussed changes that could be made to our prescription plan to save money.  Such changes would have to be negotiated.  We again asked for information to go out to employees concerning when to go to urgent care versus a convenience clinic versus the Emergency Room.  We would also like to see the Medmutual App promoted.  Next meeting March 13.

 

MASTER TEACHER:  The MTC will meet again on February 8. Our scoring day is scheduled for May 11.

 

MOBILIZATION:  President Klein and Vice-President Rego will start Union Comes to You lunch meetings in January. All buildings have a date.  Sandwich sign up will be through Google Forms.

 

OFT:   We will be preparing our positions on several resolutions for the OFT convention in February.

 

PTA:  Next meeting January 22 Council Meeting at the Board.

 

RETIREMENT:  For members retiring with 30 years or fewer in STRS the deadline for the $24,000 incentive is March 1.  Please schedule a time to meet with President Klein if you are intending to retire this school year.

 

SOCIAL:  Save the date of March 23 for our Spring Social.  Still working on details.

 

SUMMIT: Next meeting January 27.

 

1.  Grievances:

            Nothing current

 

2.  Administration Union Concerns:

Elementary Testing and Pacing:  President Klein is continuing to have discussions with Superintendent Dixon over concerns.

 

Elementary Dismissal:  There are concerns about procedures for elementary dismissal.  We will continue to press this issue at Summit.

 

Morale: Summit will be continuing to analyze the data we collected from surveys to determine what we will be working on.

 

3.  Fact Findings

            Nothing current

 

 4.  Heights Coalition for Public Education – The first forum is Monday, January 29.  All members should try to attend as three area superintendents speak on how they are fighting back against state policies that hurt their students and communities.

5.  College Credit Plus – We have been trying to come to agreement about the work that High School Counselors are doing that is different this year since a position was eliminated.  We agree with administration about compensation for College Credit Plus (CCP) work that is in the contract as PSEO.  We sent administration a notice to negotiate CCP for students in the school, AP coordination, and testing coordination on December 5, 2017.  Administration responded on January 16 that they do not believe they are required to negotiate the AP and testing coordination.  We will discuss next moves with high school counselors.

 

6.   Debt Clinic – VP Rego is offering another student debt clinic on January 25 after school at our office.  18 people attended her session at the last District PD day, but many members were unable to attend during that time slot.
